Trident CX-467

The CX-467F was a midsize boombox from Japan. There were a few re-branded versions (AKA's), including the Clairtone 7976, Schneider TR-8467, and Kriesler SRR-1004. Its styling is rather conservative, with a flat, featureless speaker panel. Fortunately there's plenty of metal and chrome trim to keep things interesting. There is an analog meter for signal strength and battery reserve, and a pair of LED meters that measure input levels. The sound quality is surprisingly good, with a wide frequency range.

The function switch is labeled incorrectly - It says "power off" on the Radio setting, but actually that's the only setting where power is on. The Tape and Aux settings do not power on the box...you need to press one of the tape keys. For example, if you want to play an MP3 player into the aux inputs, I recommend pressing Pause and Play.

This boombox measures 498mm wide and 297mm tall (not including the handle). It weighs 5.5KG without batteries. The speakers were made by Sanyo. There's a layer of fabric covering all 4 of them. Very strange. I suppose it was intended to protect them from dust and spills. Or to hide them - they are ugly! Note, there's a screw inside the tape deck that must be removed to dissassemble this boombox.
